God is on the move

Praise the Lord that He is moving among the young people from the N.East in Delhi. He touched many young hearts with the earnest desire to intercede for their state.  Please pray for them to be established in prayer.  Many gave their lives to the Lord for the first time and were transformed.

Psalm 24 says: this is the generation that seeks the Lord.  The Lord promises that they shall receive the blessing.

Give praise for all those in Manipur who caught the vision of prayer.  Many in a bible college there recieved a new annointing and a new vision.

Prayer groups were encouraged to keep on praying for peace and turning back to God.  Some people were physically healed and emotionally healed during these meeting.  Please Keep praying for them.

In a small village outside of the capital a group of 25 children all under the age of 5 years were tested for HIV  out of 25 children,20 tested positive for aids.  In a few years this village will be wiped out. Pray for awareness of how aids is spread and for proper care for these innocent little ones.  Where sin abounds the innocent suffer.

50,ooo people marched on the streets ofYangong, led by the monks. Today the government are making noises of putting down this uprising,because the monks are highly respected and  are in the front of the people the government will not want to take an aggressive action. Pray that it will be a peaceful outcome and not as in 1988 when 3,ooo young people were killed. The people are protesting about the increasing price of basic needs of food.

NEW DELHI: With close to two lakh birds culled in the northeast State of Manipur, fingers are now being pointed to Myanmar from where the affected birds may have entered India through the 1600-km long porous border.

The Centre has already alerted neighbouring Mizoram to check illegal smuggling of hens from across Myanmar where incidents of bird flu outbreak have been more often.

Manipur, along with Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, shares border with Myanmar.

“Government of India has issued an advisory to the northeast States to restrain from imposing any restriction on the Inter-State movement of poultry and poultry product and intensify surveillance especially vigilance on the border with the countries that have reported outbreak of avian influenza,” a release from the ministry of Agriculture stated.

A day before India confirmed the outbreak of bird flu on July 25 after samples sent by Chingmeirong Ira poultry farm in Manipur’s East Imphal district tested positive, there were reports of its outbreak in south Myanmar.

There were also reports of bird flu outbreak in Myanmar during February, April and June this year, and the latest outbreak is reported as recent as Monday in southeast Myanmar.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Tuesday, confirmed the culling of 1.85 lakhs of poultry birds with operations of control and containment operations continuing on Tuesday.

Culling and disposal will cover all 86 sectors in the 0 to 5 kms zone followed by mopping, clean up and disinfections, the government release stated.

The government has also refuted the reports of ‘unusual’ deaths of birds from East and West Imphal districts of Manipur or in any part of the country.

PEOPLE OF MANIPUR
Manipur State is a hilly country of a total land area of 22356 Sq. Kms, of which 9/10th are hills and 1/10th is the valley. The unity of people and the present boundary of Manipur have remained fixed since the controversial transfer on lease of Kabaw valley to Burma (Myanmar) in 1834. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has presented Kabaw valley to Burma in 1953.
 
Manipur is a home of different peoples. Aimol, Anal, Angami, Chiru, Chothe, Gangte, Hmar, Kabui, Kacha Naga, Koirou, Koireng, Kom, Lamkang, Meetei, Meetei Pangal, Mizo, Maring, Mao, Monsang, Moyon, Paite, Pournei, Puram, Ralte, Sema, Sernte, Thangal, Thadou,Vaiphei, Zou. Tarao, Mate, Kharam, etc. are the indigenous people of Manipur. Indigenous Peoples of Manipur belongs linguistically to Tibeto-Burman family and racially to Mangoloid stock. Latecomers in the plural setup include the Mandarins, Bengalis, Punjabis, Tamils, Malayalees, Nepalis etc. who work and live in this multi-cultural pluralistic society. Manipuri, which is equally a Tibeto-Burman speech, is the lingua franca of all people in Manipur.

Historically, the close relationship of the various peoples of Manipur has been established. In Manipur the people were known by the name of their separate communities throughout the 19th and early 20th century. Only after the advent of British Colonists, the people residing in hills were divided into two groups of people under the generic names of Naga and Kuki. The tradition of common ancestry is prevalent among the hill people and Meiteis who settled with their hill brothers for centuries had left their hill habits to settle in the valley.

STORY: Scores of students from India's remote northeastern region staged a silent protest outside police headquarters in New Delhi on Monday (March 26)against what they said police action during a rally last week Wearing black bands covering their mouths, the students belonging to Kuki tribe of Manipur were protesting the lathicharge on them by Delhi police on Saturday (March 24). The students were demonstrating against abduction of people by rebels in the state.

Police cane charged the students, who wanted to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister. The police arrested several more than 200 students, while many were injured in cane charging.

"Just because they insisted to meet the Prime Minister they were being

Baton-charged and the women assaulted by male policemen. This is no way of civilized security force dealing with democratic protest," said Pauline Haoke, spokesperson of the Kuki Students' Organisation.

The protesting students also demanded the release of those taken into

custody."I would expect the government to immediately release the detained students first of all. Second I would ask the government to look at issues back home particularly landmine issues and release the 480 civilians,"said Thathem Kipgen, a Kuki student.

Chief of Manipur O. Ibobi Singh said the government was trying to sort out the matter with the federal government.

"They have some problems there. We have taken up. We will try to solve

in consultation with the centre," he said.

The students claim at least 400 villagers from Laijang in Chandel district of the state were forcefully taken across the border to neighbouring Myanmar by United National Liberation Front (UNLF), a rebel group fighting for an independent Manipur.

Manipur is one of the seven states in India's northeast, home to more than  200 tribes. The remote area, ringed by China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan,has been racked by separatist insurgencies since India gained independence from Britain in 1947.

In 2004 the Indian army had launched a major operation in Manipur, and said it had inflicted heavy losses on both the UNLF and other rebel groups.

The UNLF said it was prepared to lay down arms if Indian government agreedto a U.N.-monitored plebiscite in Manipur, withdraw its armed forces and allowU.N. peacekeepers into the former princely state.

India has stationed around 50,000 soldiers in Manipur, though there is

widespread popular resentment against the military's powers to arrest and killsuspects.
